  • Phillip Island is 3785km from Antarctica. Surrounded by penguins and seals, on an island shaped by the Southern Ocean’s violent weather, this is the gateway to Antarctica.

  • WWF helped establish the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and the Heard and McDonald Island Marine Reserve, as well as the Macquarie Island Marine Reserve.

  • WWF-Australia’s current work in the Antarctic focuses on building a network of marine protected areas and new initiatives to protect wildlife such as whales and seabirds.
