The core responsibility of the Environment Team is wildlife and habitat, protection and enhancement. Rangers undertake pest animal and plant control, revegetate degraded landscapes, enforce park regulations, assist research projects and work closely with community groups. Wildlife rehabilitation of over 500 animals per year is undertaken by dedicated staff in our wildlife hospital.
The PINP Management Plan 2006-11 outlines current objectives of the Environment Team.
Permits for Events and Group Activities held within PINP
To help protect the natural environment and to facilitate the many user groups of Phillip Island Nature Park, an organised permit system has been developed.
Permits are required to undertake commercial activities, including commercial photography on Crown Land within the Nature Park. Permits are also required for other activities including Outdoor Education; Surf Schools; surfing, sporting and other recreational events; and organised or group activities.
Permits help ensure awareness regarding park values, wildlife and habitat protection, visitor safety and consideration of the interests of others.
The Park also has legislation to ensure protection of flora and fauna, protection of park assets and consideration of other park users.
