New Phillip Island Nature Park Regulations 2010 Phillip Island Nature Park is governed under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978. The regulations attached to this act have expired and new ones came into effect on 17 May 2010. These new regulations stem from the Phillip Island Nature Park Management Plan 2006-2011 which was prepared after extensive public consultation. The new regulations aim to provide safe and sustainable use of the Nature Park for community and visitors, and to protect our environment including flora and fauna for future generations. More.

Seal’s life in danger from plastic bottle
A plastic drink bottle was found hanging from the cheek of an Australian Fur Seal on Seal Rocks during a recent research trip by Phillip Island Nature Park researchers. More.
Picking up birds
It’s not their usual time to breed but the large numbers of Little Penguins on Phillip Island are coming onshore to mate without producing any eggs. This ‘false breeding’ season lasts for four to five weeks and males at the Penguin Parade have been seen courting females with calls and displays. More
Migratory birds saved from death on roads This year’s Short-tailed Shearwater migration from Phillip Island has been a success with 269 birds saved from local roads. Over 54 birds were rehabilitated at the Nature Park wildlife hospital and 33 were successful released. Nature Park receives $3.4 million for Summerland rehabilitation on Phillip Island Phillip Island Nature Parks welcomes the Victorian Government’s funding announcement of $3.4 million over three years to rehabilitate the Summerland Peninsula on Phillip Island.The funding will be used by the Nature Park to continue the process of conserving,protecting and restoring the Summerland Peninsula to ensure the ongoing survival of the Little Penguins.
