Penguins have taken a giant leap in the popularity stakes since the release of Hollywood blockbusters such as 'Happy Feet' and 'March of the Penguins'. In the past year the flightless birds have been catapulted into the stratosphere thanks to 'Mr Popper's Penguins' and 'Happy Feet 2'. Phillip Island Nature Parks tops Banksia Awards (29-10-11) Phillip Island Nature Parks is this year's winner of the 'Land and Biodiversity - Preserving Our Ecosystems' category in the Banksia Environmental Awards - the nation's most prestigious environmental awards. The Nature Parkes topped the category for their submission 'Fox Free Phillip Island' - a program aimed at eradicating the threat foxes pose to Phillip Island's little penguins. Since its inception in 2007, the program has significanltly reduced the threat and no little penguins on Phillip Island have been taken by a fox in the last two years. Download the Rhyll Inlet Map New Phillip Island Nature Park Regulations 2010 Phillip Island Nature Parks is governed under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978. The regulations attached to this act have expired and new ones came into effect on 17 May 2010. These new regulations stem from the Phillip Island Nature Park Management Plan 2006-2011 which was prepared after extensive public consultation. The new regulations aim to provide safe and sustainable use of the Nature Parks for community and visitors, and to protect our environment including flora and fauna for future generations. More.
