Surfing Teams Challenge competition - tag-team style
WHEN: Saturday, 5 April 2014 From 8am – approximately 3pm
WHERE: Event re-located to Flynns Reef, check Facebook for updates.
WHO: Phillip Island’s top surfers across all age-groups and styles. Contest director Geoff Owens (Phillip Island Boardriders Club) and members of Phillip Island National Surfing Reserve Community Working Group.
WHY: To mark one year since the commemoration of the Phillip Island National Surfing Reserve in March 2013 and to celebrate and promote surfing within the Reserve beaches.
HOW: Up to 15 teams each comprising eight members; super grommet, junior, open man, open woman, kneeboarder, single fin rider, Malibu rider and over 50
short board rider will compete for a first prize of $2000 and other cash prizes and giveaways.
A BIT MORE: The Phillip Island National Surfing Reserve was officially launched on 16 March 2013 at Cape Woolamai. It is the first of its kind in Victoria and one of only 18 across Australia. The philosophy of National Surfing Reserves (NSR) is to ‘care, share and preserve’. www.surfingreserves.org.
