Get set for a classic summer evening when the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra hits Phillip Island’s shores on Saturday, February 2 for a full-length concert on the spectacular grounds of Churchill Island Heritage Farm.

Tickets are selling fast for the highly anticipated event featuring acclaimed conductor Benjamin Northey and the stunning soprano, Antoinette Halloran.

Mr Northey has toured the world in his role as a conductor but is now based back in Melbourne and says he visits the Phillip Island, Bass Coast region whenever possible.

“Phillip Island is a fantastic part of Victoria and indeed the world and I’m so excited to be part of the MSO’s first performance there,” said Mr Northey.

“It’s always great to share the excitement of an MSO concert with any audience but it is a real treat for the Orchestra to get out of town and travel to such a wonderful, picturesque location,” he continued.

Mr Northey will lead the orchestra through classics including Puccini’s “Un bel di” from “Madame Butterfly”, Dvořák’s “Song to the Moon” from “Rusalka” and Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture”. The two hour concert will be staged against the backdrop of Western Port Bay and the stunning grounds of Churchill Island.

“An outdoor concert always adds an extra layer of magic to the power of a symphony,” said Mr Northey.

Gates to the event open at 3:30pm and guests can treat their taste buds with a pre-booked dining package featuring the fine food and wine of the Gippsland region. Food stalls will also be open on the day and offer Spanish paella, oysters, sushi, a BBQ and crepes. No BYO alcohol. The two hour concert begins at 5:30pm.
