Phillip Island Nature Parks Board of Management has approved the Churchill Island Key Area Plan presented at its March 27 Board meeting.

The Key Area Plan provides a 15 year strategic overview for Churchill Island, detailing a ‘big picture’ vision that maximises the island’s potential, caters for varying user groups and ensures Churchill Island’s existing values are upheld. A summary of the plan can be found at the Nature Parks website: http://bit.ly/1pFexLD

The finalisation of the Churchill Island Key Area Plan follows seven months of work and development with key stakeholders. The next phase is the development of a Conservation Management Plan for Churchill Island which will establish parameters for site design and management principles.

The Nature Parks Board is also pleased to announce that a Key Area Plan (KAP) for South and North Coast beaches will begin shortly, as identified in the Nature Parks Strategic Plan 2012-17. The South and North Coast Beaches KAP development will involve community information sessions as advertised through local papers.
