Winter Fun at Churchill Ice-land
Come and try out Victoria’s only Island Skate Rink during the July school holidays and enjoy skating with stunning water views! During the second week of the holidays, Churchill Island’s normally peaceful paddocks will resonate to the sounds of kids, and even a few of the parents, squealing with delight as they have a go at skating on a pop-up rink.
The all-weather rink will take pride of place at Churchill Island Farm with beautiful views of the calm waters of Westernport across to French Island, all under the watchful eye of the Highland cows and Clydesdale horses grazing nearby.
For the littlies who might need some extra help, there will be some little penguin pals to lend a helping flipper, as well as experienced skate staff to help those of us who haven’t mastered our triple axel or lutz jumps just yet.
This pop-up synthetic rink will operate daily from Monday 9th July to Sunday 15th July between 11am and 3pm. Entry to the rink is free with a 4 Parks Pass, or you can pay a small $5 surcharge with a standard Churchill Island entry ticket.
The 4 Parks Pass includes entry to the Penguin Parade, Churchill Island, the Koala Reserve, and the Antarctic Journey at the Nobbies, and as an added bonus, every child 4 Parks Pass holder that tries out the skating will receive a free Mt Baw Baw child lift pass.
Please note: As a conservation organisation, environmental sustainability and responsibility were major factors in selecting a synthetic rink over ice.
So what are you waiting for? Pull on your winter woollies and head on down to Churchill Ice-land these school holidays for a cool time on the ice.
