Royal Weekend at the Antarctic Journey

Phillip Island Nature Parks are celebrating the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend (10-12 June) in style with their own Royal Weekend at the Nobbies Centre. Held in the icy realms of the Antarctic Journey, the Ice Queen and her Princess have decreed that right royal fun will rule in their domain with some cool winter games and activities.

Their Royal Icenesses will welcome children into their polar palace, complete with snowflake lighting and a chilled sound track, and then let the games begin. Magical snow tricks and interactive games will be followed by singing and dancing, and all are welcome to join the chorus, led by the royal pair.

The kids will then embark on a journey to seek out the royal fortune with a magical treasure hunt in the Lab, armed with a clue sheet and their royal entourage. To round out their icy adventures, there’s a choice of face painting or snow themed craft activity to take home.

The whole family can then spend their time exploring the Antarctic Journey’s interactive displays. The Lab is jam packed with fun-filled hands on activities designed to entertain and educate. Visitors can check out their thermal image and compare it to an Emperor penguin, or visit the Sound Lab and Research Station for an insight into the sights and sounds of Antarctic wildlife with animal calls, microscopes and fascinating specimens.

The Journey puts you right in the heart of the action, surrounded by creatures of the deep like whales, seals, sharks and more. The interactive wildlife experience will be a highlight as visitors see themselves on a giant screen, patting a penguin or stroking a seal. Thanks to cutting-edge ‘augmented reality’ technology, both the young and the young at heart will enjoy their interactions with some of Antarctica’s most iconic wildlife.

So come and join the Ice Queen and her Princess for some cool times this Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend.
