Peter Menkhorst
Peter has worked for the Victorian Government’s environment department for 48 years, mostly at the Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research. He has broad experience including fauna surveying, ecological studies of mammals and birds, management of threatened species, management of over-abundant koalas, and monitoring and management of waterbirds and wetlands.
He is an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Life Sciences at La Trobe University, and Honorary Associate in Terrestrial Zoology at Museums Victoria. He is primary author of field guides to both the mammals and the birds of Australia.
