Penguin Parade Upgrades

🐧 We’re upgrading our burrows (and boardwalks!)

You might notice a few works underway at the Penguin Parade. Don’t worry, the penguins are carrying on with their nightly waddle like nothing’s changed. What is changing are the spaces around them, all part of the Penguin Parade Boardwalks and Viewing Stand Upgrades.

This project is about making your visit more comfortable, more accessible, and even better for years to come. Same magical penguins. Improved places to enjoy them.

đŸŒ± Why we’re doing this

The Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s most loved wildlife experiences, and it’s growing. These upgrades are designed to:

  • Improve accessibility across boardwalks and viewing areas
  • Increase comfort and safety for visitors of all ages and abilities
  • Create better viewing opportunities while protecting penguin habitat
  • Future-proof the site so it continues to be enjoyed responsibly

đŸ›ș Mobility Buggy Temporarily Unavailable

As part of our visitor‑infrastructure upgrades, the mobility buggy is currently out of service.

The good news:

  • All boardwalks remain open for pedestrian and wheelchair access
  • You’re welcome to bring your own mobility aid
  • Complimentary wheelchairs are available at the ticketing desk
  • Our team is always happy to help with access questions

đŸšœBoardwalk Amenities

Construction of the next stage (Stage 3) of the Penguin Parade Boardwalk Redevelopment Project has commenced. These works will upgrade the remaining boardwalk elements, consisting of new toilet amenities, new viewing area and new return boardwalk to the Visitor Centre.
The boardwalk toilets are unavailable until completion of the first phase of works, which is expected to be completed in February 2027.
The existing boardwalk toilets will be demolished and new state-of-the-art amenities built in the same location. Toilets will continue to be available in the Visitor Centre and the Bus Carpark. We apologise for any inconvenience whilst the boardwalk toilets are being upgraded.

🌟 Thank You for Your Patience

These upgrades will allow us to enhance visitor comfort, access, and the overall viewing experience—without any impact on the penguins themselves.

Thanks for your patience while we build something special. We can’t wait for you to see what’s next.
